Please take a minute and get up from where you are and go look in the bedroom or bathroom mirror. What do you see? Yeah I know it's the same old story about being positive, but you know what? If it is the same old story to you... Tell you what, I'm a gambler.I'm willing to bet that if you DIDN'T get up and look in the mirror, it's because you are not REALLY happy with what's staring back at you.
I don't mind if you get a little angry at me. But if you are angry, maybe you'll do something about that image you see in the mirror.
Are you unhappy about your bank account or your balding hairline? Do you like your job, your spouse, your home? How about your attitude? Are you a little grumpy about things? I've been there. I won't go back there again, I can assure you of that. Are you looking to make some changes in your life? Do you have what it takes to be the person you want to be? Or are you afraid you may ruffle a few feathers? Worried that your friends will say that"you've changed"?
I used to have a friend that lived his entire life saying negative things about anyone, anything, anyplace. I never could understand why he was so negative about life in general. He always complained about his job, which by the way he was very good at. He complained about his health, which was pretty good except of course for the pack of cigarettes he smoked every day and the cocaine he snorted on "special occasions". When we were in our teens, he used to say he was going to get married and have 5 kids. He never did. He traveled all around the country, went to Mardi Gras, The Super Bowl, The World Series. He was a natural leader, a talented chef and he used to tell everybody that I was his best friend. He died at 50 years old of cancer. He always wanted to be a winner.
He could of accomplished anything and everything he wanted in life. I believe he didn't because of his negative attitude. I believe cancer killed him because of his negative attitude. He used to make fun of anyone who ever stepped out of their comfort zone and tried to do something to improve their life, their love, their circle of influence. He never bought a home, he never had a wife, he never had children, he was never really happy. He did have a lot of people who loved him in spite of his negative approach to life. He was a lovable curmudgeon but he was my friend and as I sit here watching Miami Dolphins football like we used to, I'm thinking about how he thought everything was a scam and that the only way to do things were his way.
Sammy was a Winner
We had another friend that stepped out of his shadow/comfort zone and became very successful in sales/marketing. He was an introvert who at an early age became consumed with success that he worked and worked and worked until he was being driven around in limos and living in the lap of luxury. He wanted things, and he got them all. He is a winner , no ifs ands or buts about it! After he got all the things he thought he wanted, he found out all he really wanted to do was sing and play the guitar. Now that he acquired all the things he thought would please him, he retired at 38 years old to sing and play the guitar.
It's a good thing that he was awesome at sales and marketing!!!
I too have taken the road less traveled and have gone on to live the type of life I desire and have the things my friend always talked about having and doing when we were in our teens, I have 2 sons, I have 2 grandchildren and another on the way! I have owned several homes, I have owned several businesses, I have even been married several times. I have failed miserably and I have succeeded tremendously. I have made money and I have lost money, an awful lot of money ! I write today not to compare how going down different roads or more importantly having different attitudes have brought about different results. I mention him today because I miss him. I wish he was here to share in my success with me. To share my life, my grandchildren, my positive attitude with someone I loved would be awesome. Our birthdays were in December. Mine the 22nd, his the 24th. It was our tradition to go out and celebrate on the 23rd. No Matter What.
The POINT is are you a winner or a whiner??? The choice is yours to make!
If I had to do it all over again, I would of spent more more time being with a winner than being with a whiner. I love him dearly but at my age I'd rather be spending my free time on singing lessons. The choice is always yours to make. I admonish you to choose being a WINNER!!!

They are practical exercises, but also essential principles one needs to truly succeed in this, or any other endeavor one might choose.
Make no mistake about it…Internet Marketing takes work, and a lot of it. If you were thinking or hoping it did not, I guess it is best to burst that bubble up front. There is no difference between online marketing success, and great achievement in the “real” world. You don’t get anywhere in life by sitting down and trying to slide-up-hill, and that includes this field. There are a set of rules, guidelines, and strategies in cyber space commerce, just as there are in real space. By learning them, and practicing their potential, you will begin to see incredible possibilities, and begin to expand your mind to fully grasp that you have in your hands the power to send your life in a completely different direction. It is my sincere wish that you take to heart the lessons herein, in order for you to become as successful as your mind can possibly achieve. I wish yours to be the greatest story of success ever told.
Internet Marketing for Dreamers
I know what you’re thinking. The last thing you need, or want, is some clown giving you a pep-talk about what motivates you. But, over the years I’ve heard countless people say they want to make a lot of money. They want to be rich beyond comprehension; they want nice cars, big boats, mansions on a hill… all that the good life has to offer. Whenever I hear that, I have but one question I ask them; “Why?” I can’t properly put into words the dumbfounded look I receive the majority of the time I ask this. Often a person will become a little defensive and begin to state the obvious; only to stop themselves as the question sinks in deeper. You see, before I asked them that question, they thought they knew… but suddenly they realize they have not yet landed that understanding. Many think having all those things, is the very reason to want to “have” all those things. Not true. They are just “things”. Possessions that are often not enough of a reason for someone to obtain them. Don’t get me wrong, they are nice to have, but they are “byproducts” of your persistence…mere manifestations of your driving force. You need to know “why” before you know “how”, because the “why” will carry you through all the obstacles that ARE going to get in your way (notice I did not say; “might get in your way”). Yes, that’s right; things are going to get in the way of your success. Following your ambitions is a bumpy road. It is not the beaten path (that would be a J.O.B). It is a constant climb, struggle, and march toward that ultimate reason; your “why”. Your “why” is your anchor…one that grounds you as you FIGHT for your dreams and goals. There are many “how’s” to make those things a reality, and make no mistake; it is possible for you to become very successful in Internet Marketing, so you’ve already found your “how”. This can be your vehicle to make those dreams come true. All you need to do now is fine-tune your “why”. Now, I know this statement sounds rather simplistic. The challenge is for these words to travel the inches between your brain and your heart. This has long proven to be the most difficult distance we must conquer. You may capture this truth with your mind, but it needs to get into your heart. It needs to get into your belly! I know most of you reading this will say to yourself “Yeah, OK, so it’s possible to make a lot of money in Internet Marketing…but can “I” be the one to make that kind of money?” That truly depends on you, and your “why”. It depends on how bad you want success. Is it a burning desire within you, or just a great idea? Are your dreams so real that you can “touch” them in your mind, or are they vague, distant thoughts that would “be nice” if they happened? In this frame of mind lies your success… and unfortunately, it can also carve out your failure. I’m sure you’ve all heard this before. Likely so much, you feel a very strong desire to delete this blog, so you don’t be lectured on it again! But, instead of just reading these words, I want you to really understand them. I want you to truly grasp what is being conveyed here. You need to fully understand how important it is to change your mindset, and begin to attract into your life the necessary tools to help you reach your life’s ambitions, and the very first thing you must do is define your “why”. You must realize your ambitions and aspirations are not just silly whims you occasionally day-dream about while sitting at your desk at work. They are not just fantasies as you imagine yourself on a crystal-clear beach somewhere. They are as real as you want them to be, and they must be “real” to you before they can be “real” to everyone else. They are the cornerstone of your success. Every great idea, concept, achievement, invention, business, city, state, country, on and on, all began with a dream. They all began with a vision. Somebody had to dream it before it was reality.
Thomas Edison failed over 3,000 times before he invented the light bulb. When asked about all those blunders he quipped; “I didn’t fail 3,000 times. I now know how not to make a light bulb 3,000 different ways.” Now that’s a dreamer! That’s true commitment! And, it all started with a burning passion…an idea that he refused to let go of.
Henry Ford said; “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”He ought to know… he was no stranger to failure. Could you imagine if he just gave up and climbed into his horse-drawn buggy and trotted off home? Where would we be if it weren’t for his dream of a horseless carriage?
Did you know that Walt Disney was once fired from a Newspaper for lack of imagination? What if he had listened to that Editor? What if that man’s words would have convinced Walt that he was without creativity, and should just give up? If he had, we would have never heard these words; “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world. ”—Walter E. Disney, July 17, 1955. We would have never known what we had lost, and a hundred-and-sixty-acres in Anaheim would just be another sub-division today (not to mention 35,000 + acres in Florida!).
"Colonel" Harland Sanders at the age of 65 years old, upset at receiving his first Social Security check of $105 got in his car and traveled the country seeking restaurants that would take a chance with his now famous "blend of 37 herbs and spices" Colonel Sanders was told 'No Thank You' over 1000 times before he finally (less than ten years later in 1964) got someone to say YES! Sanders sold the Kentucky Fried Chicken corporation for $2 million to a partnership of Kentucky businessmen. Two million dollars was an awful lot of money in 1964. Even more valuable today.
In a more modern example, one has to be amazed at J.K. Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” book series. Hers is an amazing story of determination. Penniless, she wrote her novel living out of a car. She submitted her novel to 12 different publishers, all of them turned her down (I bet those publishing houses kick themselves now). The thirteenth publisher agreed to 1000 copies, all of which fell flat. Instead of throwing them away (which the publisher suggested) she insisted they be donated to libraries across the country. Shortly there after, the libraries reported a long wait for the book, and requested more and more copies. The word spread, and lo and behold, she now holds the world record for the most copies SOLD in a 24 hour period. But, she never would have obtained that title if she hadn’t ever envisioned it was possible. She never would have made it, if what kept her from giving up wasn’t so powerful that she simply refused to take no for an answer. In her mind, some how, some way, her books were going to be immensely successful, no matter what. She was right. Beyond her wildest dreams she was right. But, had she given up and thrown away “Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone” her dreams would have died in the trash can. It takes a firm belief in one’s self to be able to have the courage of J.K. Rowling, but more importantly, it takes a belief that you can never doubt. A dream you can never let die. Now, let us imagine for a moment that Harry Potter handed you his wand with a “cheeky” grin and said; “Here, you can now have everything you’ve ever wished for. There is one catch however…you have to believe it’s possible.” How many would wave that stick with absolute faith? Would you be of them? It has been said the richest place on earth is not the gold, silver, or diamond mines… it is the graveyard. For dreams are buried there…forever unfulfilled, without a trace of how they would have bettered our lives had they been realized.
How About YOU???
What is it in your life that means so much to you that nothing in this earthly realm will ever stop you from obtaining it? This is the single most important question you can ask yourself. This is where the rubber meets the road. What is it in you, that will keep you going through all the rejection, doubt, pain, struggle, frustration, exhaustion, ridicule, money problems, strife, and failure? Before you read any further, ask yourself what will keep you trying after 3,000 blunders, if that is to be part of your growing process? Find the answer to this…and you will find the true “key” to your success.

Internet Marketing Success Depends on UNWAVERING POSITIVE ATTITUDE
I know what you’re thinking; “Not another pep-talk… the last thing I need is a cheerleader.” You might even be rolling your eyes as you say it. I know how you feel. This is the area in which I struggled most. I had such a serious case of “stinkin’ thinkin’ that it’s amazing I ever got out of bed in the morning, let alone became successful at anything. So rooted was my negativity, that when I first started Network Marketing (long before the Internet) I looked for all the ways I could be successful without being positive! Pathetic, huh? The reason I felt that way is I looked at the statement “Be positive” to be an empty gesture, meant to pick you up when I was down, and to be honest, when I was being negative, I didn’t want to be positive! Make sense? Also, it seemed like such a hassle to be positive all the time. In my mind, I thought I’d be the first one who ever got rich being a negative, mean old bastard! Over twenty five years ago, I was shown how to change my thinking, but I didn’t really see the value in “Positive Mental Attitude material. I figured reading self -help books, and keeping positive was simply a way of making you feel better if things weren’t going right. So, if you were losing, they made you feel “OK” about it, and I didn’t like that. I didn’t want to feel “OK” about losing, I wanted to win, I wanted to be a success, and I didn’t need a bunch of “rah-rah” books to help me do it. I figured if things weren’t going right, I should face them, not hide behind some pages, or some motivational cassette tapes. My mother would get Norman Vincent Peale pamphlets and pass them on to me along with her daily prayers, but I was acquiring quite a drinking problem at the time that I usually only read them in the bathroom recovering from my daily hangover. I thought it to be a facade, nothing more than a phony attempt to deny and ignore things weren’t all that great in any given area in my life. I could hold a job but relationships never lasted long. I think back now that I dated some of the smartest and prettiest girls, that went on to good lives and careers, but I was a success at sabotaging anything good that ever came my way. After a few DUI's and learning that you "don't know what you've got till it's gone", I figured there must be a better way. Then, after some jail time and 386 straight days of working at it, I learned the true importance of being positive. It’s not an act Ladies and Gentlemen… it’s the KEY!
The Key To Success
The KEY to living an abundant life instead of just existing on this planet with the billions of other creatures we must co-exist with. It is literally how your business will grow, or how it will die. Next to hard work it is literally one of the most important elements to success. It is the path to abundance and wealth. Why? Because being of a positive state of mind “attracts” positive things into your life, being negative, attracts negative things, and your success can not grow in negative ground, PERIOD!
We’ve all heard of the law of gravity, right? You throw a ball into the air, and it must return to earth. It’s not something we can change, or alter. It is law. Eventually, everything that goes up, must come down. There is another law in play. One we cannot change, nor tweak, nor shift, nor alter…a law that is always there, whether we realize it or not. It is the “Law of Attraction”. When you are of a positive “vibration” (if you will) you will attract the necessary tools, people, assets, and opportunities to reach your goals. Your business will thrive in that fertile soil! Just like if you are negative, you will repel those vital attractions, and draw to you negative things, and your business can and will not only stall or stop, it may even reverse itself. If you focus on what you want, and not what you don’t want, you will draw a positive outcome to you. By the same token, if you concentrate on what you don’t want, you will draw that to you. In essence, you need to harness your thoughts. Be careful what you concentrate on for it will come to pass. It always has…it always will. It is a law that can not be broken, simple as that. It is that simple, and yet it is difficult at the same time. Most of us have been so conditioned to worry, stress, fear and fret over what might happen, we forget what we want to happen. We forget to focus on our “why” and what we are striving to accomplish. We’ve all heard the saying; “Be careful what you wish for”. This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s not the “positive” you need to be careful with, it is the “negative” that is the curse.“So a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” The Bible tells us. There is tremendous power in positive thinking, and focus. So much so, it has literally been referred to as the “SECRET” to obtaining what you want out of life. The greatest gift you can give yourself is to learn this “Secret” and apply the principles it teaches. Nothing will ever change your life more. Nothing will bring your life more happiness, contentment, and success then this truth. Nothing! You need to understand, it’s not just a “hobby” to read positive material. It is not just wise to focus on your goals and dreams in a positive light. It is absolutely crucial! So, how do you keep from slipping back into the “Forget it, I’ll just work my job for another 30 years and retire” mode, or an “It won’t work, so what’s the use” frame of mind?
Success Is A Choice
First: Secure your “why”. Then, scour the internet and watch every video on self improvement, and positive motivation you can find. Personally, one of my all time favorites is Les Brown. He is an amazing example of the power of positive thinking and the passion of believing in your dreams. Zig Ziglar ( who passed away last week November 28,2012) is another speaker who changed my life forever.
I recently attended an event in Orlando,Florida called "Unleash The Power Within" with a group of people from TradeSmart U, a group of option traders I study with. Beside four days of intense study and motivation, I held my walking cane(oh did I mention I have problems walking) and walked across a bed of red hot coals. Try it sometime if you think it's just Bull$hit. We learned about nutrition and mindset and believe me, after that weekend Tony Robbins has been instrumental in my life.
I had read and viewed most of his tapes as well as Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie and learned from all of them. Listen to these experts, and you will start to feel your mind change in a very short period of time, where nothing will shake you from your goals… and I mean NOTHING ! These amazing gentlemen have the power to change the way we think, and propel us toward our future, if we just have the discipline to listen to them. For me this was a problem, so I had to force myself to listen in the beginning. You may have to do the same. Understand that listening to the lesson’s they teach will soon became an important part of your daily routine, and move you out of your present circumstances and mindset into a different frame of mind, where you will begin to see that YOU can win at your goals and dreams!
Secondly: You should read! You should make it a habit to read at least 10 pages a day from books such as “Think and Grow Rich”, An Enemy Called Average, Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, just to name a few. These are absolutely essential in keeping your thought process on tract and your mindset focused! Combine both books, and motivational videos/audio and you will have a tremendously strong armor to reach your goals!
Third: You need to check your mindset daily! Stay confident and above all KEEP LEARNING! Keep growing. Your mind should be like a sponge, sucking up every bit of positive influence you can find! It takes a big shield to ward off the arrows of negativity we are exposed to everyday. It takes some pretty big canons to defeat our thoughts when they begin to eat us alive with doubt. Always keep the wolves away with positive affirmation… you will need it in your war against mediocrity. There is so much more I could add to this principle, if you’re going to make it to that place you hold deep in your thoughts… deep in your heart…the place where all of your dreams are alive and you are living every moment of them, then your dreams have to be at least that tough! This leads me to this segment’s ultimate point: You can’t quit just because something gets in your way, because something will ALWAYS GET IN YOUR WAY! Life has a very tricky way of trying to throw you off course in order to test your resolve. Don’t let it! Hold steadfast to your “why”, stay positive, stay focused, and NEVER SURRENDER YOUR DREAMS!

The important thing is that you make a decision and do something to improve your life TODAY!
As Beatle fans get ready to mark two dates that are always very difficult, we must remember to celebrate their lives, the music and the love they gave us so freely. That can NEVER be taken away from us! Today November 29, 2012 marks 11 years since we lost George Harrison to cancer and 32 years on December 8 since John Lennon was assassinated. I know many people gave up smoking after George died. For those that haven't quit yet, think about George and throw those packs of killers in the trash for good!
John was cut down by a lunatic after a troubled time and a renewed vigor, vision and #1 album.
George wrote about it
'All Those Years Ago'
I'm shouting all about love
While they treated you like a dog
When you were the one who had made it
So clear
All those years ago.
I'm talking all about how to give
They dont act with much honesty
But you point the way to the truth when you say
All you need is love.
Living with good and bad
I always look up to you
Now we're left cold and sad
By someone the devils best friend
Someone who offended all.
We're living in a bad dream
They've forgotten all about mankind
And you were the one they backed up to
The wall
All those years ago
You were the one who imagined it all
All those years ago.
Deep in the darkest night
I send out a prayer to you
Now in the world of light
Where the spirit free of the lies
And all else that we despised.
They've forgotten all about God
He's the only reason we exist
Yet you were the one that they said was
So weird
All those years ago
You said it all though not many had ears
All those years ago
You had control of our smiles and our tears
All those years ago
From the "Somewhere In England" Album (1981)
George's life was cut short by the horrors of cancer, most likely caused by those terrible cigarettes that he started smoking at the age of 14 to fit in with the older kids who were so impressed by his guitar playing, that Paul McCartney introduced him to John and he asked him to join his band. Not bad for a fourteen year old guitar picker who loved Carl Perkins and Chet Atkins. He became the lead guitar player for the most famous band in the world.
Young George Harrison
If anybody ever spent their life getting ready for the afterlife, it was George.
"All Things Must Pass"
Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day
Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
The Beatle Days
George's songs were largely overshadowed by the Lennon/McCartney song writing machine in the early days of the Beatles. They even let George sing a few of their songs on the albums 'Do You Want To Know A Secret' was probably the most famous.
Songs sung by George with the Beatles including performances from the Beatles anthology: All Things Must Pass Blue Jay Way Crying Waiting Hoping Do You Want To Know A Secret Don't Bother Me Don't Ever Change Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby For You Blue Glad All Over Here Comes The Sun I Forgot To Remember To Forget I Got A Woman I Me Mine I Need You I Want To Tell You If I Needed Someone I'm Happy Just To Dance With You It's All Too Much Long Long Long Love You To Not Guilty Nothin' Shakin' Old Brown Shoe Only A Northern Song Piggies Roll Over Beethoven Savoy Truffle So How Come (No One Loves Me) Something Take Good Care Of My Baby Taxman The Inner Light The Sheik Of Araby Think For Yourself Three Cool Cats While My Guitar Gently Weeps Within You Without You You Know What To Do You Like Me Too Much Young Blood
George wrote about love and life and all the things that were happening in his life. Here are the songs he wrote that were included on Beatles albums
"Don't Bother Me" from With the Beatles (1963).
"I Need You" and "You Like Me Too Much" from Help! (1965).
"Think for Yourself" and "If I Needed Someone" from Rubber Soul (1965).

"Within You Without You" from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967).
"Blue Jay Way" from Magical Mystery Tour (1967).
"The Inner Light" (B-side to the single "Lady Madonna") (1968).
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Piggies," "Long, Long, Long" and "Savoy Truffle" from The Beatles(1968).

"Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" from Abbey Road (1969).
"I Me Mine" and "For You Blue" from Let It Be (1970).
His first wife Pattie who he met on the set of the Beatles first movie 'Hard Day's Night' was the inspiration for quite a few songs as well as being the "Layla" Eric Clapton wrote about after she broke up with George to be with Eric.
George always got along with Eric even after the famous break up of George's marriage. Eric was instrumental in putting together "The Concert For George" with George's widow Olivia and son Dhani performed by an amazing cast of George's friends including Ringo Starr & Paul McCartney as well as a tribute put together by George's close friend and sitar teacher/advisor, Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka Shankar. It is well known that George was fascinated with the sitar and the sounds and teachings he discovered when the Beatles visited India in 1968 to learn about Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, which inspired George,Paul and John to write a number of songs. Ringo even wrote one song while there but was sick due to the inoculations required to travel to India at the time and left earlier than the others.
George loved to laugh and was a huge fan of Monty Python.
The Pirate Song
In the mid 1970's Eric Idle created the Beatles parody band called the Rutles which led to the Rutland Weekend Television show where George played Pirate Bob.This led to the cult mockumentary 'All You Need is Cash'
HandMade Films was formed by former Beatle George Harrison and business partner Denis O'Brien in 1978 to finance the Monty Python film Life of Brian. When the original financiers of Brian, EMI Films, pulled out the creators had to find other financing. When asked why he wanted to finance the film, Harrison remarked that he wanted to see the movie. To which Terry Jones commented, "that must be the most expensive movie ticket in history." Harrison, a friend and fan of the Pythons, mortgaged his home in order to finance the feature. The first film started under the company was 1981's Time Bandits, still one of my personal favorite films. The company continued to produce films through the 1980s.
George was a pioneer in many ways. All Things Must Pass is a triple album by George Harrison. Recorded and released in 1970, the album was Harrison's first solo work since the break-up of The Beatles in April that year. The original vinyl release featured two LPs of rock songs as well as Apple Jam, a third disc of informal jams. Often credited as rock's first triple album, it was in fact the first by a single act, the multi-artist Woodstock live set having preceded it by six months.
In regards to the album's size, Harrison stated: "I didn't have many tunes on Beatles records, so doing an album like All Things Must Pass was like going to the bathroom and letting it out."
The album was critically acclaimed and, with long stays at number 1 in both the US and the UK, commercially successful. It was certified 6x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2001 With Harrison's supervision, a remastered edition of the album was released in January 2001, less than a year before his death. It featured revised artwork and contained bonus tracks, including an unreleased song ("I Live For You") as well as a partially re-recorded version of "My Sweet Lord". The reissue debuted at number 4 on US Billboard's Pop Catalog Chart, and also charted at number 46 in Japan, 68 in France, and 68 in the United Kingdom. In 2009, it re-entered and peaked at number 3 on the US Catalog chart, following the release of his posthumous compilation album Let It Roll.
For the 40th anniversary of All Things Must Pass, in November 2010, the album was reissued in a box set of three vinyl LPs as part of Record Store Day Black Friday 2010. Simultaneously, a digitally remastered version of the album was made available for download from Harrison's official website.
The Concert for Bangladesh
George also co-organized the 1st ever benefit concert "The Concert for Bangladesh" with his friend Ravi Shankar to raise international awareness and fund relief efforts following the civil war atrocities and the devastating in the Eastern area of Pakistan after a cyclone damaged the country in 1970. George performed for the first time alone and recruited a supergroup of musicians to perform with him including Eric Clapton (who was suffering with his own addiction to heroin at the time),Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, the band Badfinger, Peter Frampton, Billy Preston and others. George also was the Master of Ceremonies for the show, even though he was often referred to as "the quiet Beatle". The concerts (2:30 PM & 8:00 PM) were held in Madison Square Garden August 1,1971 to an audience of 20000 for each performance. The resulting album was also a triple album that won the Grammy for Album of the year in 1973. It was initially issued on CD on July 30,1991 in America and August 19, in Britain with significant editing of the breaks between songs. The Concert for Bangladesh was remastered and re-released on October 24, 2005, now with the addition of Dylan's afternoon-show performance of "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" as a bonus track. At the same time, the 1972 Apple film of the concert was released on DVD. Sales of the remastered album and DVD continue to benefit the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF.
UNICEF Month of Giving
Many of you may remember in school we would get the UNICEF boxes in the and go door to door to raise funds.
George was very prominent in working with Paul and Ringo to produce the Beatles Anthology CD's & DVD's and helped put together John Lennon's previously unreleased song "Free as a Bird" & "Real Love"
George also formed another Supergroup in 1988 with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Jim Keltner. They called themselves "The Traveling Wilburys"
Handle With Care
Martin Scorsese has made a documentary film on George's life
along with the book of the same name written by Olivia Harrison who reveals the arc of George's life, from the guitar-obsessed youth growing up in Liverpool to the astonishment of being the lead guitar player of the most famous band in the world, to his days as an independent musician, producer, philanthropist, Grammy winner, and member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
While Paul McCartney's "Yesterday" may be the most recorded song ever, George Harrison's "Something" will always be known as the 2nd most covered song but more importantly, "The Best Love Song Ever Written"
"Something"
Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
I could write a commentary on all 180+ songs written by George, I didn't even mention the Sue Me Sue You Blues, This Song, Here Comes The Sun, You,Can't Stop Thinking About You,Not Guilty, Here Comes The Moon,Faster,Cloud Nine,Devil's Radio but that is not why I am writing today. I simply want to honor his memory AND his greatest gift to the world, his music and his love of his Higher Power
THANK YOU GEORGE
I AM A BETTER PERSON BECAUSE OF YOU I KNOW WHERE I"M GOING
I've been traveling on a wing and a prayer By the skin of my teeth, by the breadth of a hair Traveling where the four winds blow With the sun on my face, in the ice and the snow
But oooeeee it's a game Sometimes you're cool, sometimes you're lame Ah yeah it's somewhere And if you don't know where you're going Any road will take you there
But oh Lord we pay the price With the spin of the wheel with the roll of the dice Ah yeah you pay your fare And if you don't know where you're going Any road will take you there
I keep traveling around the bend There was no beginning, there is no end It wasn't born and never dies There are no edges, there is no sides
Oh yeah you just don't win It's so far out, the way out is in Bow to God and call him Sir But if you don't know where you're going Any road will take you there
